Birthright Israel strengthens Jewish identity, Jewish communities, and connection with Israel via a trip to Israel for Jewish young adults. Since its inception in 1999, more than 600,000 young adults from 67 countries (and 50 U.S. states) have participated in Birthright Israel trips. A key trip component is the Mifgash (encounter), with over 90,000 Israeli participants cumulatively. The Mifgash allows for a greater understanding of complex issues, insight into Israel’s significance to global Jewish peoplehood, a deeper connection to Israel and long-lasting friendships.
