Nurse Family Partnership (NFP) pairs nurses with first-time, low-income moms-to-be for weekly home visits starting in pregnancy and continuing through the child’s second birthday. NFP has been subject to rigorous research throughout its 35+-year existence, and today serves moms and their babies in 42 states. Outcomes include: reduction in child abuse and neglect; reduction in emergency room visits for accidents and poisoning; reduction in behavioral and intellectual problems at age six; and fewer hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. New York City’s NFP is the largest urban site in the nation.
