Citizen Schools connects adolescents in low-income communities to deeper learning experiences via 10-week apprenticeships taught by volunteer Citizen Teachers. Students are transformed into website designers, lawyers, financial advisers, and more, learning how their current academics apply to a future career pathway. Citizen Schools participants make significant academic gains, equal to an additional three months of learning in math, in the first year of Citizen Schools implementation at their schools.
