Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) provides children with individualized, long term support to help them get to and through college and become productive, self-sustaining adults. The HCZ Project began as a one-block pilot in the 1990s and today the organization serves more than 25,000 youth and adults in a 97 block area. HCZ’s pipeline of programs begins at birth and continues until college graduation through education, social services, family support, health and community building. With close to 1,000 HCZ alumni in college, HCZ is disrupting the cycle of generational poverty in Central Harlem.
